How to update Edge
Updating is free, takes about a minute, and your open tabs are safe.
On your computer
- Click the three-dots “Settings and more” button at the top right of Edge.
- Choose Help and feedback, then About Microsoft Edge.
- Edge checks for updates by itself. If an update is offered, click Download and install.
- Click Restart. Your tabs come back automatically.
Shortcut: type edge://settings/help into the address bar and press Enter to open the same page.
On Android
- Open the Microsoft Edge page in Google Play with the button below.
- If you see an Update button, tap it. If you see Open instead, you are already up to date.
- No luck? In the Play Store, tap your profile picture at the top right, choose Manage apps & device, and update Edge from there.
On iPhone and iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile picture at the top right.
- Scroll down to the list of available updates.
- Tap Update next to Microsoft Edge, or Update All.
On iPhone and iPad, every browser uses the web engine that ships with iOS, so it also helps to keep iOS itself up to date: Settings, then General, then Software Update.
Good to know
- Updating is free and usually takes about a minute.
- On Windows, Edge updates can also arrive on their own through Windows Update — so you may already be up to date without doing anything.
- Restarting Edge to finish an update does not lose your open tabs — they are restored automatically.
